Nathan Vale, Tenor

Winner of both First Prize and the Audience Prize at the 2006 London Handel Singing Competition, Nathan Vale attended the Royal College of Music, where he studied with Ryland Davies. He was awarded an Independent Opera Vocal Scholarship to the National Opera Studio. He continues his studies with Tim Evans Jones.

Nathan is a committed recitalist and won the 2005 AESS English Song Competition. He has appeared at the Wigmore Hall and the Three Choirs Festival. He has also recorded Love’s Voice (songs by Finzi, Gurney, Ireland, and Venables) for SOMM Records.

With the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra he has sung the Christmas Oratorio conducted by Harry Chistophers, Arias St John Passion conducted by Paul Goodwin, and, with the Radiotelevisione Italiana Symphony Orchestra, Die Erste Walpurgisnacht conducted by Sir Neville Marriner. Other highlights include Evangelist St Matthew Passion with the London Handel Players and with the Northern Sinfonia, Handel Ode for St Cecilia’s Day with both the Israeli Camerata and the Riga Chamber Choir, Arias St Matthew Passion with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, and Mozart Mass in C Minor with the Bach Choir conducted by David Hill.

Current engagements include a recording of Van Dieren’s Chinese Symphony with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales for Nimbus Records, Handel Messiah in Bristol Cathedral and the Usher Hall Edinburgh, Handel Israel in Egypt with the London Concert Choir and also for the York Musical Society, and a recording of Quilter songs with pianist Adrian Farmer for Nimbus Records.
