Charles Court Opera

Charles Court Opera has been described as one of the leading chamber opera and music theatre companies in the UK. They are one of the champions of the current reinvigoration of Gilbert and Sullivan, described as “the masters of G&S in small places” in the press, and are known for their legendary 'Boutique Pantos', presented in London every Christmas. They have performed across the UK in venues ranging from pub theatres to concert halls, and have toured to Spain, the US, Ireland and France.

CCO celebrated its tenth birthday in 2015, and over the past ten years CCO’s opera productions have included operettas Patience, Ruddigore, The Mikado, HMS Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance, Iolanthe, one act operettas by Sullivan without Gilbert, including their “definitive production” of The Zoo, Britten The Turn of the Screw, Puccini La Boheme and Tosca, Mozart Cosi fan tutte and Impresario, Rimsky-Korsakov Mozart and Salieri, and an evening of the Avant Garde including music by Ligeti, Maxwell Davies and Schoenberg, linked to a composition education project supported by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and RC Sheriff Trust.

This summer CCO presented The Magic Flute at the Iford Arts Festival and at Christmas, they will return to the King’s Head Theatre, London with their 10th anniversary pantomime Pinocchio. Next summer, they will present The Barber of Seville at Iford, and The Mikado in London.

“A sparklingly fresh package of laughs, pathos, foolery and high-class music making” - Opera Now
“Ingenious…. The ensemble singing is exquisite… It’s hard to imagine it better administered…” - London’s Evening Standard
